Ukraine president orders to set up independent pipe firm in 2019

KIEV, Nov 6 (PRIME) -- Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has ordered Energy Minister Alexei Orzhel to establish an independent pipeline system operator until the end of the year by spinning it off energy holding Naftogaz Ukrainy, the press service of the president said in a statement late on Tuesday.

“Energy and Environmental Protection Minister of Ukraine Alexei Orzhel must complete the procedure of spinning it off Naftogaz Ukrainy until December 31, 2019,” the statement read.

Orzhel said earlier that Ukraine was doing its best to integrate into all the necessary European legislation and the new operator would be ready to sign a contract on transit of Russian gas after December 17.
